Americans visit English countryside for first time and are blown away by one thing

Two American tourists took the train to see the English countryside for the first time, but they were shocked by one thing they saw from the train - and it's not the first time this country has left expats and visitors surprised.

Renowned for its stunning natural beauty, luxury farm shops and rolling green hills - the Cotswoldsattracts a staggering 35 million holidaymakers every year. The Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covers an area of approximately 787 square miles (2,040 square kilometres), which includes several quaint villages and farm areas. The Cotswolds has recently gained even more popularity through social media platforms such as TikTok, which has caused increased numbers of tourists, much to some locals' dismay.

However, it's no wonder so many touristslook to visit the Cotswolds every year, as the villages often meet the "ideal" stereotypes that many might have about what an English village "should" look like.

One of these tourists is American Sammy Napolitano from New York City, who has taken to TikTok to document her and her friend's holidayto London.

While the two enjoyed exploring the capital city, they decided to spend a few days away from London and took a train to the Cotswolds to enjoy the English countryside, where they visited Stow-on-the-Wold, Charlbury and Burton-on-the-Water.

In her video, Sammy and her friend are seen sitting opposite each other on a seemingly empty train as they both look out of the window next to them.

"POV: You're an American travelling to the English countryside for the first time," she wrote on the video.

While viewers can see trees and large fields pass by outside, the two tourists quickly spot something that makes them excited.

"I see sheep, I see sheep, I see sheep," Sammy exclaimed to her friend as they both went on to get excited about the sheep they saw on the field they were passing.

"There's so many," she said as she pointed to the sheep in question. She then turned to her camera and said: "Can you see the sheep?"

Viewers quickly took to the comment section, with many Brits revealing that they have the same reaction when they see sheep, even if it's a common occurrence for them.

"Ngl, I’m from the English countryside and I still point out every animal I pass, which was fine until I moved next to a horse field," one person commented.

Another person said: "I’ve lived here for 6 years now and the sheep are still my favourite thing ever. In the spring when the lambs are born I lose my GD mind every year."

"This makes me realise I shouldn’t take this for granted! It’s so normal when commuting to London etc. Thank you for the reminder," someone else said, as another person wrote: "Nothing beats the English countryside."
